Doctor Riaan Foot – Northern beaches Orthodontist
Dr Riaan Foot was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. He completed his undergraduate dental training at the University of Stellenbosch and it was during his time that he discovered a passion for orthodontics. He realised that orthodontics has immense potential, not only to improve smiles, but also to transform the lives of patients. He gained tremendous satisfaction from seeing the improvement in confidence and self-esteem following treatment, which inspired him to follow his passion.
Following graduation, Riaan worked as a dentist in a busy private family dental practice for 5 years. He enrolled and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Interceptive Orthodontics at the University of the Western Cape and, after moving to Australia, completed the primary examinations to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the final examinations of the Australian Dental Council granting him full Dental Board registration.
Riaan was subsequently accepted into specialist Orthodontic training program at the University of Sydney, completing the three-year full-time specialist training course, Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics).
In recognition of his skills as a postgraduate student, Riaan was awarded the Australian Society of Orthodontics (NSW) prize for the best case treated by a student. He has also been honoured with membership into the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Riaan has lectured both in Australia and abroad and accepted an offer to join the University of Sydney faculty as a tutor and lecturer to postgraduate specialist students.
He is currently a member of:

Vanessa is the smiling face who greets you when you visit Wavescape Orthodontics.
