More than just a customer number
Initial Orthodontic Consultation -
During your initial visit to Wavescape Orthodontics, Dr Foot will examine your face, teeth and mouth.
H will ask you what results you want to see and answer any questions you may have about your orthodontic health and treatment. He will discuss with you:
- What your orthodontic treatment options are
- What orthodontic treatment involves
- When is the best time to start your orthodontic treatment
- A breakdown of the treatment fee
The initial consultation is designed to ensure you know exactly what the best treatment options are and what orthodontic appliances are available to you. It will also include a discussion on the most appropriate treatment timing.
We will take a complete set of orthodontic measurements and assessments of your face and teeth (free of charge), to help work out exactly what needs to be done.
If you already have dental x-rays, please bring them along. If you don’t have any, we will refer you to have the necessary x-rays taken. These are bulk billed, so you shouldn’t have any out-of-pocket expenses.
After your examination, we will provide you with two assessments:
A verbal assessment at the end of the consultation where we chat with you about your orthodontic problems, solutions, treatment options, appropriate orthodontic appliances and optimal orthodontic treatment timing.
A written assessment which includes a detailed written report, summarising the initial orthodontic consultation and suggested optimal orthodontic treatment plan as well as other options. A copy of this report will also be sent to your regular dentist.
A detailed quote outlining the fee schedule and health fund codes will also be included in the written report.
At this point, it is totally up to you whether you want to go ahead with the treatment. If so, we will arrange your next series of appointments and provide you with all the ongoing support and care you might need, including answering any questions that come up along the way.
Our Relationship with you as a Patient or Parent
We are sure you will agree that orthodontic treatment is a rewarding and sensible investment.
We also know that it can be a bit daunting, which is why we encourage you to ask any and all questions you have about procedures, likely results, timeframes and costs. Well-informed and knowledgeable patients are happy patients.
Our Relationship with your Dentist
After your initial consultation, a detailed report will be sent to your dentist. They will also receive updates throughout your treatment, to ensure optimal all-round oral health care.
